To mark the birth of rock – Save the Blues will sing it for charity
Leo King’s joyous new blues-rock number celebrates rock'n'roll’s Golden Jubilee
“Earlier this year, on a cold, wet weekend in the South
of France, I was thinking about rock'n'roll’s upcoming Golden
Jubilee” says songwriter Leo King.
“Last July,
when visiting hot, humid Memphis, Gracelands and Sun Studios,
I had been reminded of the profound debt that rock'n'roll owes to
the blues, and how the original ‘bluesmen’ are fast dying
out”.
King went out in the rain, bought ‘the cheapest
guitar in Nice’, sat down and riffed the opening of That’ll
be the day – and Save the Blues came pouring
out…
